Geothermal heating and cooling on a community scale just makes sense. The wells and piping will be interconnected amongst the entire community, improving systems' performance and lowering costs dramatically.

With a communitized well field, overall ground temperature balances are better maintained - meaning so is the indoor comfort quality, and so are your finances.


One kilowatt-hour of energy reduction is more valuable than one kilowatt-hour of energy production, therefore dollars used to reduce energy usage will come back to you faster than dollars used for any other energy investment on your property. A net zero capable community is only possible through sophisticated energy reduction measures from design to construction and throughout occupancy. Often, attempting to remove an electric bill by shear force (installing a massive amount of solar production without reduction measures) can quickly become space or even cost prohibitive. All community solar installations qualify for a federal tax credit for 30% of the entire system cost. For solar-covered parking, this includes the parking structure as well.

Assuming the system is owned by a business entity, 85 percent of the system value can be depreciated over 5 years.

Some jurisdictions allow for property tax exemptions on the value of the solar installation.

Your utility provider may offer installation rebates, production-based incentives, or even pay you for the solar you produce.
